- Abstract:
-
The study evaluated the effect of a therapeutic and preventive complex on haematological parameters following surgery for head and neck cancer and chemotherapy. Thirty-five adults aged 25–55 years were examined: 10 healthy controls, 10 comparison-group patients and 15 main-group patients. Haemoglobin concentration and erythrocyte and leukocyte counts were assessed at baseline and after 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. Baseline values were below control values (p<0.001). At 12 months, haemoglobin, erythrocyte and leukocyte values in the main group were 140.3±8.3 g/L, 4.8±0.4×1012/L and 5.1±0.3×109/L, representing increases of 99.9 %, 84.6 % and 70.0 %, respectively. Recovery was numerically greater with the complex.
