Annotation This report presents results from the study of pharmacological activity of total flavonoid content (substances) received from yellow rhododendron (Rhododéndron lúteum Sweet.) and common St. John's wort (Hypéricum perforátum L.). Influence of flavonoid substances represented by group of quercetin, kaempferol, myricetin, on pain sensitivity, was studied on mice using conventional hot plate test. The test animals were injected intraperitoneally at doses of 25-100 mg / kg. Changes in pain threshold (PT) were recorded in the dynamics. It was found that all the studied substances increase PT, thus expression of analgesic effect is dose-dependent. Maximal pain threshold elongation occurs after 30 minutes after the injection of substances allowing calculating graphically ED50 for each of them at the level of the maximal effect. Analyze of ED50 values showed that total flavonoid preparations derived from yellow rhododendron (ED50 of 22.0 mg / kg) and common St. John's wort (ED50 - 21.0 mg / kg) have significant and equivalent analgesic effects. Total flavonoid preparation from rhododendron yellow (rododendrin) represents the crystalline sum of the flavonoid. Aglycones presented by quercetin, myricetin, kaempferol, and carbohydrate components are L-arabinose, L-rhamnose, D-galactose. The composition of proposed polyphenol complex of Hypericum (PFC) contains up to 65% flavonoids, 35% are catechins, xanthones, hydroxy-cinnamic acids, dianthrones and others. PFC as pharmacological active ingredient includes in the herbal complex preparation Phytolytum used in the treatment of urolithiasis and chronic inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract. The obtained data complete and enrich the range of pharmacological effects of these compounds and the plants containing them, which is an important factor in their therapeutic use and also indicate possibility of further research and creation of new effective and safe analgesics among the substances of natural origin.
