Abstract:
Scimitar syndrome is a rare congenital cardiopulmonary anomaly characterized by partial or complete anomalous drainage of the right pulmonary veins, hypoplasia of the right lung, and variable vascular abnormalities. The condition exhibits marked clinical polymorphism, ranging from severe manifestations in the neonatal period to an asymptomatic course with delayed diagnosis. This article presents a clinical case of an infant with scimitar syndrome associated with partial anomalous drainage of the right inferior pulmonary vein into the inferior vena cava, hypoplasia of the right pulmonary artery, systemic arterialization of the right lower lobe, and an atrial septal defect. The diagnostic value of multislice computed tomography angiography in delineating the anatomical features of the defect is emphasized. The clinical course, diagnostic considerations, and surgical management are discussed.
