Articles requirements
Manuscripts are accepted from specialists in the field of theoretical, preventive, experimental and clinical medicine, related disciplines, and biological sciences (specialties 091 «Biology» and 222 «Medicine»).

Article Formatting

The manuscript is submitted as two separate files: the article and the extended abstract.

The total length of an original article (excluding the extended abstract) must not exceed 15 pages. One page = 250 words or 1,800 characters without spaces.

Punctuation and Typography

  • En dash «–» with spaces in the middle of a sentence.
  • En dash without spaces between numbers: 2019–2020.
  • Hyphen «-» between compound words.
  • Em dash «—» is not used in scientific articles.
  • Decimal separator in English text — period: 3.14.
No spaces between mathematical signs: + / / / = / > < / / ±.

Quotation marks: "Word" in English text.

References in text — numbers in square brackets in ascending order: [3, 6].

Abbreviations must be introduced in full at first mention in Introduction or Methods. No new abbreviations in Results.

Tables and Illustrations

  • Tables and figures complement — not duplicate — the text.
  • Placed in the text immediately after the first mention.
  • Data are discussed after the table/figure, referenced only once.
  • Figure captions are placed below the figure.
  • Tables in portrait orientation only, 14 pt.
  • One table — no more than one printed page.
Maximum 2 tables. Total illustrations (figures + tables) — no more than 6. Use graphs or charts for data comparison.

1. UDC Index

Determined using Ukrainian UDC classification tables.

2. Authors

No more than 7 persons. Format: initials + surname, without academic degrees. Superscript after surname indicates institution affiliation.

Initials must appear before the surname!

3. List of Institutions

Each institution on a new line with its official name and city. Superscript before institution name.

First institution — no superscript. Second → 1, third → 2, etc.

4. Article Title

IN CAPITAL LETTERS, no more than 14 words. Must not include commercial drug names or general phrases.

5. Corresponding Author's E-mail

For editorial and reader correspondence. Published in open access alongside the article.

6. Abstract in English + Keywords

Length: 100–150 words, unstructured, one paragraph, no abbreviations.

  1. Background (10%) — 1–2 sentences stating the research problem.
  2. Materials and Methods (20%) — key information without detailed method descriptions.
  3. Results (70%) — main results, novelty, significance for global science.

Keywords: 5–7 words or phrases. English equivalents must correspond to MeSH descriptors.

7. Abstract in Ukrainian + Keywords

List of authors (without institutions) and article title, followed by abstract and keywords per item 6.

8. Research Project / Grant

Number and full title of the research project or grant. Omit if not applicable.

Article Sections

9. Introduction

Justification of the topic's relevance; brief review of the current state of the problem. Cite only works directly related to the topic.

10. Aim

One clearly formulated sentence. Does not duplicate the title. Research objectives are not listed separately.

11. Materials and Methods

  • Characteristics of subjects/patients (number, sex, age, inclusion/exclusion criteria).
  • Study design (randomized, prospective, retrospective, etc.).
  • Methods with references to standard protocols or detailed description of original methods.
  • Statistical methods.
Mandatory: statement of ethics committee approval and informed consent.

12. Results and Discussion

Either a combined or two separate sections. Conclusions must not be part of Discussion.

13. Conclusions

Numbered list of specific conclusions directly following from the results. No general phrases or repetition of aims.

References

Format: APA 7th edition. Numbered in order of first citation. In-text: [1], [3, 7].

At least 50% of references published within the last 5 years. Self-citation — no more than 20%. Minimum — 15 references.

Manuscript Submission

  1. Prepare files — article (.docx) + extended abstract (.docx) + cover letter.
  2. Check requirements — structure, length, number of authors, reference list.
  3. Send by e-mail — all files in one message to womab.ed@gmail.com.
  4. Await confirmation — editorial office responds within 3 business days.
  5. Peer review — double-blind, up to 4 weeks.

15. Corresponding Author Contacts

After the reference list: full name, institution, postal address, e-mail.

16. Extended Abstract in Ukrainian

Separate file, 1,800–2,000 characters without spaces. Structure: authors + title / background / aim / M&M / results / conclusions / keywords.

The extended abstract is not a shortened version of the article. It must contain specific quantitative results and be self-contained.
